How in the world is my little dude already a month old?!? Boy, have I learned a lot over the last 31 days. I have learned so much about him, but I have also learned a lot about myself. I’m so much stronger than I thought I was, not so much in the physical aspect, although I am lifting a lot more than I ever have (i.e. car seat, stroller, baby bag with every necessity under the sun that a baby might need- you never know, a baby could ABSOLUTELY go through 10 diapers & 100 wipes in 2 hours…), but also I’m stronger mentally. Considering the lack of sleep and the crazy hormones from having a baby, in my head I feel like I’m handling this parenthood thing pretty well! :) Of course, it’s only the beginning… but I just love my little guy. He’s the honey & granola to my greek yogurt, the pita to my hummus, the Nutella to my Honeycrisp Apple :).
Today we had our one month check up with the pediatrician. My boy is growing so much. Bennett weighed in at 11 pounds 13 ounces (!!) and is 24.5 inches long. I was shocked by these new numbers! Such a big boy! He is currently wearing 3 month old clothes. He sleeps most of the night, only waking to feed 2 times (on average), although last night he slept through the night waking at 5AM to eat (super exciting!!). He is a breast milk enthusiast ;) and was just introduced to a bottle 2 days ago which was definitely not his favorite moment, but he’s getting the hang of it. It was nice having a little freedom for a night though! When I told the doctor that I am pretty much feeding him on the hour, she was a little shocked. She told me I should wait at least two hours from the start of one feeding to the next, anything in-between would be him “snacking” ha ha ha!! Like mommy, like son! I’m a total snacker!
We still have not been graced with a real smile from Bennett yet. I am SO looking forward to that sweet moment! As of today he still has deep blue/gray eyes that are almond shaped with the longest lashes ever. I’m pretty sure he has my turned up nose, and he still has his daddy’s chin. And don’t get me started on those chipmunk cheeks he’s still sporting! I’m so obsessed with him and his cuteness, it’s not even funny. His favorite thing to do is rock in a rocking chair, he can hold his head up by himself for a little while, and has been behaving himself at all restaurant outings that Husband & I take him on. Such a good boy!
Overall, things are going really well! I’m just so proud to be his mommy! He is such a joy to have around…
I think we’ll keep him ;)!
