Bennett Wesley :: 8 Months Old

My baby’s getting big, y’all.  And he’s becoming less needy.  That little baby phase is long gone… sad.

He’s pulling himself up with ease onto anything and everything he can.  He crawls faster than I speed walk.  He’s always chatting with anyone who will listen (including the dogs and toys).  This boy can eat!  He is excited to try it all!  Poor thing still only has his two lower front teeth so he still can’t eat much, but anything soft and can be broken up into little pieces or fed with a spoon he is eager to get in his mouth.

His favorite activity these days would be bath time.  He has not had to use the baby holder thingy in the tub in a while so he is free to roam around, put his hands under the faucet as it fills the tub with water, play with all his water toys and books, and get bubble mohawks and beards from daddy.  He always has a big smile on his face when he’s in the tub.

My boy loves to be tossed into a big pile of pillows and blankets where he then pounces and laughs real loud.  It’s the cutest thing ever.  He is starting to tolerate being in the car a little bit better.  For a while this was a big challenge for Husband & I.  Neither one of us wanted to drive with him in the car!  Ha ha ha… He would get so upset!  Thank God that phase is over.

This boy is loooooong.  He is wearing 12 month clothes and I don’t mean the 9-12 month size… I mean the 12-18 month size.  Not that they fit in the waist, but for length, it’s the only size that works.  I’m predicting he’s going to be tall and skinny just like Husband & I were as kids… But please look at that pot belly in the pictures toward the top- I live for that belly!!

Every single day is a new adventure with Bennett.  He is just absorbing so much and developing skills so fast, I’m so proud of my little man!

Bennett, Mommy loves you so, so much!!  And Daddy loves you so much too!

Bennett Wesley :: Six Months Old

Happy Half Birthday, Lil Man!

Six whole months with this precious human!  How did Husband & I get so freaking lucky?!?  Bennett is fully crawling across the floor, sitting up on his own, and pulling himself up onto his knees.  A little over a week ago I walked into his room after he was done with his nap and caught him peeking over the edge of his crib.  Tonight, his crib has been lowered to the lowest level for fear he will climb/ fall over head first to the ground.

He is still breastfeeding, mixed in with some pureed foods (mostly bananas because they are his favorite) and the oatmeal cereal.  He still refuses to take a bottle but he likes to pretend to drink from one every now and then.  He is starting to get upset whenever people are eating foods that he is not allowed to have.  He gets all whiney and starts acting out which makes it super hard to enjoy a meal these days… I hope this phase doesn’t last long but I have a feeling it will hang around for a while.  At least until he gets teeth, right?!? We are still waiting for the first tooth to pop through his little gums.  The drool is seriously like a faucet.

Bennet still loves bath time. He loves to kick and splash the water everywhere.  Super cute!  His favorite song right now is “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”.  Anytime he is fussy or upset, all I have to do is start singing that song and he gets this big grin on his face. He loves it!  He is starting to become more and more aware of the dogs.  Sasha is always hanging around him, she lets him grab her ears and lips and tail, it doesn’t seem to bother her at all. Layla, on the other hand, is a little standoffish, which concerns me a little.  We keep a very close eye on all dogs around him, and do not allow him to play alone with the dogs around.  Overall, they are doing pretty good with him, they may feel a little neglected, but we still treat them like our other babies. :)

Tomorrow we have our six month check up (and shots) with the doctor.  Hopefully he doesn’t get too upset because this is the first shots appointment I’m going to solo.  He hasn’t been too upset at the previous appointments, so I’m hoping it’s the same scenario this time.  Wish me luck!

Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween!  We had all sorts of festivities this past weekend which I will post pics of all that stuff sometime this week (hopefully ;)).  The time change is kicking my butt!  It seriously feels like it’s midnight right now and it’s only 8:45… what is wrong with me?? Oh yea, I’m a mom.  Ha ha ha!

Anyway, happy six months to my baby boy!  in six more months I will be a sobbing mess looking back at the year.  I’m trying to hold on to these precious baby moments for as long as possible because I know they will be gone in a blink.

I love you so much my sweet boy.  You are mine and daddy’s whole world.

Father’s Day Outtakes

This father-son duo… they have my heart!!  Especially when they twin up their wardrobe ;)  We spent Father’s Day with Husband’s family where we watched the US Open with Grandpa Dietrich, and had a wonderful steak dinner prepared by Grandma Dietrich.  It was a wonderful day!

^^ How cool is this little cupcake display of a yorkie?!? ^^

My parents got this for Husband from Dolce (our yorkie) for Father’s Day.  So cute!

And then, Daddy took Bennett in the pool (thinking the water was a little warmer than it really was), but Bennett wasn’t a big fan.  He didn’t like the cold water touching his belly, the video below shows how he reacted ha ha ha…

A Bennett Milestone

My baby is lifting his noggin! In the pictures below you will notice how he starts on the right side of his face, then he lifts up, turns, and finishes on his left cheek… I have noticed this many times over the last two weeks, so today I just had to document it!  He also holds his head up for what seems like forever when he is being held up to someone’s shoulder.  I know this is very normal, and that most babies should be doing this around one month..  I’m just excited :)

Bennett Wesley :: One Month Old

How in the world is my little dude already a month old?!?  Boy, have I learned a lot over the last 31 days.  I have learned so much about him, but I have also learned a lot about myself.  I’m so much stronger than I thought I was, not so much in the physical aspect, although I am lifting a lot more than I ever have (i.e. car seat, stroller, baby bag with every necessity under the sun that a baby might need- you never know, a baby could ABSOLUTELY go through 10 diapers & 100 wipes in 2 hours…), but also I’m stronger mentally.  Considering the lack of sleep and the crazy hormones from having a baby, in my head I feel like I’m handling this parenthood thing pretty well! :)  Of course, it’s only the beginning… but I just love my little guy.  He’s the honey & granola to my greek yogurt, the pita to my hummus, the Nutella to my Honeycrisp Apple :).

Today we had our one month check up with the pediatrician.  My boy is growing so much.  Bennett weighed in at 11 pounds 13 ounces (!!) and is 24.5 inches long.  I was shocked by these new numbers!  Such a big boy!  He is currently wearing 3 month old clothes. He sleeps most of the night, only waking to feed 2 times (on average), although last night he slept through the night waking at 5AM to eat (super exciting!!).  He is a breast milk enthusiast ;) and was just introduced to a bottle 2 days ago which was definitely not his favorite moment, but he’s getting the hang of it.  It was nice having a little freedom for a night though!  When I told the doctor that I am pretty much feeding him on the hour, she was a little shocked.  She told me I should wait at least two hours from the start of one feeding to the next, anything in-between would be him “snacking” ha ha ha!!  Like mommy, like son!  I’m a total snacker!

We still have not been graced with a real smile from Bennett yet.  I am SO looking forward to that sweet moment!  As of today he still has deep blue/gray eyes that are almond shaped with the longest lashes ever.  I’m pretty sure he has my turned up nose, and he still has his daddy’s chin.  And don’t get me started on those chipmunk cheeks he’s still sporting!  I’m so obsessed with him and his cuteness, it’s not even funny.  His favorite thing to do is rock in a rocking chair, he can hold his head up by himself for a little while, and has been behaving himself at all restaurant outings that Husband & I take him on.  Such a good boy!

Overall, things are going really well!  I’m just so proud to be his mommy!  He is such a joy to have around…

I think we’ll keep him ;)!

My First Mother’s Day

I don’t think my first Mother’s Day could have been any sweeter!  Came downstairs ready to head to brunch and this is what I found ^^ my perfect little baby (not to mention… fresh diaper & clothed & in car seat ready to go) and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from him and Husband :).  Husband really stepped up his game and made my day so special, gosh he’s the best.  Love you, Husband!

^^ Big yawn ^^

^^ Bennett with Daddy, Uncle Jason, & Uncle Derrick ^^

^^ Now… a little shout out to the special women in my life ^^

Baby Bennett could not have been more blessed.  These two ladies have raised the bar for Grandma’s everywhere!  Not only have they helped me pretty much every single day by holding, comforting, and loving on Bennett to give me time to shower and even take naps (!!!), they also change dirty diapers,  clean floors & bathrooms, make Husband & I wonderful meals, and are always bringing Bennett lots of gifts!  Goodness, I thought they were amazing mom’s!  They are even more amazing GRANDMA’S!  My heart loves the way they love my baby :)

I hope all the Mommy’s out there had a wonderful day!  WE deserve it! ;)
