Superficial Things I’m Thankful For in 2014

I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge some of the random things I’m thankful for this year that have nothing to do with the actual things we are supposed to be thankful for… But please know that I am ALWAYS thankful for the important things in life i.e. health & family ;)

Alright, here we go!

1.  “Group 1” boarding when traveling :: seriously, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love being one of the first ones on a plane to make sure you have plenty of overhead space for your carry-ons. Not to mention you get to be all settled in with your headphones on, book in hand, while everyone else walks by all miserable because they were not in “Group 1”. Such a ridiculous thing to be thankful for (not to mention slightly snobby) but for real… I dare you to tell me that you do not enjoy walking to the front of that CRAZY line that people start forming before their group has even been called…  I dare you!

2. Free shipping :: this is self explanatory

3. Too Faced Better Than False Lashes nylon lash extension system :: a friend of mine introduced me this a few months ago, and at first I thought it was a little weird, but after using it a few times I really like the way it makes my lashes so much longer without having to wear fake lashes with sticky glue and all that mess…

It’s a three step process :: 1. add primer with the “activating base” 2. build lashes with the nylon fibers in white tube 3. seal lashes with the base from step 1

4. Top loader washers (SO much better than front loaders in my personal opinion) :: I’ve had both and I just think my clothes get more sanitized and clean in a top loader.  That’s all I have to say about that.

5. Bump Nest body pillows :: life.changing. Since becoming pregnant, my sleeping was almost non-existent.  Not that I didn’t have sleeping problems before pregnancy, but it did get worse… The Bump Nest wraps around your entire body where you can have a pillow between your legs, under your belly, supports your head and neck, and ends at your back where you feel completely comfortable.  Highly recommend for anyone who likes this kind of thing and has problems sleeping.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow!

My family’s Thanksgiving dinner took place in Ohio this year and burrrrrrrrr!!!  It was was COLD!  My mom’s side of the family all live up north, so I was thankful I was able to spend the holiday with them since I don’t get up there as much as I would like.  The food was all prepared by 2PM, and I’m pretty sure everyone in my family had at least 3 plates of food throughout the day/ evening.  I loved seeing all of my cousin’s babies, some of which are now toddlers and will soon be big kids!  And of course spending time with my 90 year old grandma is always a treat.

Even though we don’t always notice them, there are blessings to be thankful for at all times.  I constantly have to remind myself to not let the material things I want cast a shadow on the value of the things I already have.  Health has no value, family has no value, love has no value.  Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Special thanks go out to my Aunt Patty who graciously opened up her home for everyone and for preparing majority of the food.  She is such a great hostess!  There was not an empty cup or plate the entire day!

**If you are wondering where Husband was (since he is not pictured in this post), he actually spent Thanksgiving with his family in Florida and was greatly missed!  I don’t think we will ever spend Thanksgiving (or another holiday) apart… that’s what happens when you allow your husband to make a holiday decision based on a football game ;) NEVER AGAIN!**

Calories don’t count on Thanksgiving, right?!?

Our Day of Thanks, this year, was extra special!  My cousin’s Kimberly & Alice drove all the way from Texas to grace us with their delightful presence.  It was so nice to have some peeps from my side of the family in town especially since my parents were not able to travel to Florida this year.  My cousin Kimberly is seriously like a little sister to me & Alice is just growing up WAY too fast.  She is turning into a lovely young lady, so helpful and sweet.  We had a beautiful dinner at my in law’s house with the most gorgeous display of food I’ve ever seen!

Goodness, there is so much to be thankful for… This year, God has blessed Husband & I with some of the most incredible moments and opportunities.  I’m so thankful that we have the most wonderful parents (both sets) who love us and support us, a thriving business that keeps food in our belly and a roof over our heads, and our 3 happy and healthy mutts.  Thankful that we have made some wonderful new friends who we adore!!  The only thing I’m hoping God will bless us with next year is a relationship with my brother like it used to be…  I miss him.

Count your blessings, folks!  Health, wealth, and happiness to all! ;)
