Two years have come and gone with the blink of an eye.
At 10:15 this morning, my oldest little man turned two. Today we woke up and had cinnamon rolls for breakfast. We had our swim lesson, had our two year check up with the pediatrician (B weighs 27.25 pounds and is 38 inches tall), came home and swam in the pool, then ordered yummy pizza for dinner. It has been a very normal day, yet I have been reminiscing on the last two years and how much my boy has grown. He changes so much, but I’m really loving the stage we are in. The stage where he gives unlimited kisses, always accepts a bear hug, squeezes into the smallest space next to me on the couch just to hold baby brother… it is really the sweetest time right now, I hope it continues to get better and better.
To the one who made me a mom… my precious Bennett,
You are such a special boy, everything about you is unique to you. The way you can keep your excitement for anything under wraps, even though deep down I know you are totally stoked to see and do fun and adventurous things. The way you can keep your cool around other kids who are losing their sh*t because they aren’t good at sharing, it’s admirable. The way you can be so quiet in large groups, but get home and you can take the stage for an overly dramatic speech that includes changes in your tone and hand gestures.
Everyone that meets you tells me how well behaved you are, how chill you are, how laid back you are. Although I know you have two sides, and that when you are home you are much more comfortable and can let loose, it still makes me so proud to hear other people admire your behavior in public. You are so gentle, not destructive like most little boys (at least as of the last two years- this could change now that we are in the “terrible twos”). You are much more interested in observing than doing. But I think that this is more because you like to be 100% confident that you can do something before you do it. You practice and practice until it’s perfect then all of sudden you are doing things with ease.
You are amazing to me in every way. I adore everything about you. You make my life so wonderful and I’m so proud to be your mommy.
Happy Birthday my oldest baby! I love you so much!
