Father’s Day Outtakes

This father-son duo… they have my heart!!  Especially when they twin up their wardrobe ;)  We spent Father’s Day with Husband’s family where we watched the US Open with Grandpa Dietrich, and had a wonderful steak dinner prepared by Grandma Dietrich.  It was a wonderful day!

^^ How cool is this little cupcake display of a yorkie?!? ^^

My parents got this for Husband from Dolce (our yorkie) for Father’s Day.  So cute!

And then, Daddy took Bennett in the pool (thinking the water was a little warmer than it really was), but Bennett wasn’t a big fan.  He didn’t like the cold water touching his belly, the video below shows how he reacted ha ha ha…

A Bennett Milestone

My baby is lifting his noggin! In the pictures below you will notice how he starts on the right side of his face, then he lifts up, turns, and finishes on his left cheek… I have noticed this many times over the last two weeks, so today I just had to document it!  He also holds his head up for what seems like forever when he is being held up to someone’s shoulder.  I know this is very normal, and that most babies should be doing this around one month..  I’m just excited :)

..:: And a few random {yet super sweet} pictures of my boy! ::..

Bennett Wesley :: One Month Old

How in the world is my little dude already a month old?!?  Boy, have I learned a lot over the last 31 days.  I have learned so much about him, but I have also learned a lot about myself.  I’m so much stronger than I thought I was, not so much in the physical aspect, although I am lifting a lot more than I ever have (i.e. car seat, stroller, baby bag with every necessity under the sun that a baby might need- you never know, a baby could ABSOLUTELY go through 10 diapers & 100 wipes in 2 hours…), but also I’m stronger mentally.  Considering the lack of sleep and the crazy hormones from having a baby, in my head I feel like I’m handling this parenthood thing pretty well! :)  Of course, it’s only the beginning… but I just love my little guy.  He’s the honey & granola to my greek yogurt, the pita to my hummus, the Nutella to my Honeycrisp Apple :).

Today we had our one month check up with the pediatrician.  My boy is growing so much.  Bennett weighed in at 11 pounds 13 ounces (!!) and is 24.5 inches long.  I was shocked by these new numbers!  Such a big boy!  He is currently wearing 3 month old clothes. He sleeps most of the night, only waking to feed 2 times (on average), although last night he slept through the night waking at 5AM to eat (super exciting!!).  He is a breast milk enthusiast ;) and was just introduced to a bottle 2 days ago which was definitely not his favorite moment, but he’s getting the hang of it.  It was nice having a little freedom for a night though!  When I told the doctor that I am pretty much feeding him on the hour, she was a little shocked.  She told me I should wait at least two hours from the start of one feeding to the next, anything in-between would be him “snacking” ha ha ha!!  Like mommy, like son!  I’m a total snacker!

We still have not been graced with a real smile from Bennett yet.  I am SO looking forward to that sweet moment!  As of today he still has deep blue/gray eyes that are almond shaped with the longest lashes ever.  I’m pretty sure he has my turned up nose, and he still has his daddy’s chin.  And don’t get me started on those chipmunk cheeks he’s still sporting!  I’m so obsessed with him and his cuteness, it’s not even funny.  His favorite thing to do is rock in a rocking chair, he can hold his head up by himself for a little while, and has been behaving himself at all restaurant outings that Husband & I take him on.  Such a good boy!

Overall, things are going really well!  I’m just so proud to be his mommy!  He is such a joy to have around…

I think we’ll keep him ;)!

Bennett Wesley :: One Week New

Does this not look just like a baby version of Husband?!?  My mother in law sent me a picture of Husband when he was just a few days or weeks old and it was the mirror image of Baby Bennett!  Their mouths and chins are the same, and I’m pretty sure he got his long legs, hands/ fingers, and feet from Husband.  But it’s all good, I’m not upset that he got a lot of his Daddy’s good looks ;)

The bigger issue is, how has my baby already been a part of our lives for a whole week already?!?  He is the most precious little human!  And boy are we obsessed with him!  Every sneeze, hiccup, yawn, fart, burp… we ooh & aah over!  He has just enhanced our lives to a new level that I cannot even begin to explain!  We are so in love.

Bennett’s favorite things to do multiple times a day are:

He has lots of places that he prefers to sleep:

Mommy’s Arms

Daddy’s Arms

Grandma’s Arms (both grandmas)

The Boppy Lounger

He appreciates warm wipes when being changed, loves milk from Mom, and has no interest in the mutts (Sasha & Layla) as of yet.  He likes to wake up at least 3 to 4 times a night and hates getting sponge baths.  I’m really hoping that changes.  He absolutely loves riding in the car, stretching out his arms and legs after a really good nap, and being swaddled.

Tomorrow we have our newborn session with our photographer and I could not be more excited!  I will be sure to share them with everyone as soon as I get them!

We love you Baby Bennett!  Love, Mommy & Daddy

Boy, Oh Boy! It’s A Boy!

Just wanted to share a few pictures (sorry they aren’t very clear since they are from my phone) of the nursery before Baby Dietrich gets here.  I call my theme “Bohemian Safari Chic” because I wanted something gender neutral (obviously), but still my style.  Husband did all of the hanging of art & curtains on the windows.  He is just so good at that! ;)  The only thing I do not have at this time is my wall mounted book shelf that was supposed to be here last week, but I have just been informed it will not be here until mid-May.  Booooooo!!!  I also do not have very many baby clothes yet… I figured I have a whole lifetime to buy lots of adorable outfits.  I imagine it will be like: one cute outfit for baby, one cute outfit for mommy ;).  Anyway, this is now my favorite room in the house.  I go in there all the time just to sit in the rocking chair and stare at all the things Baby D will soon be using on a regular basis.  It’s just the sweetest little room… now all we need is a Baby!  Hurry up little one, we are all waiting!
