Yesterday, this guy turned five months old. We were so busy I didn’t have time to write a post but I did get the pictures done! (Patting myself on the back)
Husband & I were just reading Bennett’s Five Month Old Post and I wish I would have read it before I wrote Remy’s four month post because their height at four months was exactly the same and Bennett weighed only one pound less. When I was re-reading all the things that Bennett was doing at five months, I couldn’t help but compare it to what Remy is doing… Bennett was almost crawling at five months! Remy really doesn’t even push up on his forearms yet. He’s trying but not quite strong enough. And Bennett was sitting up on his own with ease, where Remy is not. Again, he is trying and he is almost there, but not quite.
My sweet and smiley Remy has lots of social outings (just like big bro did) just his is usually with his big bro and big bro’s friends ;). He has started going to some of his own mom group outings, but we have been so busy traveling that it makes it tough to go to all of them. Remy just flew on this tenth flight last week on our way home from Chicago, so he is traveling a lot more than Bennett was at this age. He does so well on the planes!
A month from now Remington will be starting swim lessons at the same place that Bennett goes (hopefully at the same time too!). He really loves the pool and floating around. He usually can stay in the water with us for up to an hour without fussing at all! And next week he will be going to music class with big bro- I’m pretty sure Bennett started music class a little later but since Remy doesn’t cost anything right now, I thought why not let him tag along, I just know he is going to LOVE it!
Right now, Remy loves to find his feet and put his toes in his mouth, he is drooling like crazy (just like Bennett was), he’s not as interested in real food yet… still very happy with his bottles, hates the car seat, completely sleeps through the night- even when we are traveling and he is in random cribs, loves lots of eye contact and is just the most angelic little… ugh… big!! baby ;)
We love you, Remington! Keep being the precious gift from God that you are to me!
Happy Mother’s Day to two of the best mothers & grandmothers I’ve ever known.
You both are such great role models, and I strive to be the perfect combination of the two of you.
Thank you for loving and adoring my children just as much as I do!
Two years have come and gone with the blink of an eye.
At 10:15 this morning, my oldest little man turned two. Today we woke up and had cinnamon rolls for breakfast. We had our swim lesson, had our two year check up with the pediatrician (B weighs 27.25 pounds and is 38 inches tall), came home and swam in the pool, then ordered yummy pizza for dinner. It has been a very normal day, yet I have been reminiscing on the last two years and how much my boy has grown. He changes so much, but I’m really loving the stage we are in. The stage where he gives unlimited kisses, always accepts a bear hug, squeezes into the smallest space next to me on the couch just to hold baby brother… it is really the sweetest time right now, I hope it continues to get better and better.
To the one who made me a mom… my precious Bennett,
You are such a special boy, everything about you is unique to you. The way you can keep your excitement for anything under wraps, even though deep down I know you are totally stoked to see and do fun and adventurous things. The way you can keep your cool around other kids who are losing their sh*t because they aren’t good at sharing, it’s admirable. The way you can be so quiet in large groups, but get home and you can take the stage for an overly dramatic speech that includes changes in your tone and hand gestures.
Everyone that meets you tells me how well behaved you are, how chill you are, how laid back you are. Although I know you have two sides, and that when you are home you are much more comfortable and can let loose, it still makes me so proud to hear other people admire your behavior in public. You are so gentle, not destructive like most little boys (at least as of the last two years- this could change now that we are in the “terrible twos”). You are much more interested in observing than doing. But I think that this is more because you like to be 100% confident that you can do something before you do it. You practice and practice until it’s perfect then all of sudden you are doing things with ease.
You are amazing to me in every way. I adore everything about you. You make my life so wonderful and I’m so proud to be your mommy.
Happy Birthday my oldest baby! I love you so much!
A few pictures from Bennett’s Choo Choo Train Party:
Today marks our six year wedding anniversary, and so far it has been the most glamorous morning! Woke up to a congested infant at 3 a.m. who was desperately hungry like he hadn’t eaten in weeks, then fell back asleep (thank you Jesus!!) for what seemed like 10 minutes but was actually 3 hours. We have changed 3 poopy diapers, cut up a banana to go uneaten by our toddler, made toasted bread with butter to be tossed aside by the same previously mentioned toddler, just to play with the same “chunky size” puzzle of construction trucks that has been put together at least 22 times this morning. We have built 3 towers of mega blocks to be pummeled, we have filled and refilled multiple bottles of milk, wiped snotty noses, given medicine through syringes, watched an episode of Sesame Street, read Little Blue Truck, have given lots of kisses to tiny foreheads, and had our necks hugged so tight…
I know to some this does not describe the morning of their dreams, but being six years deep in this thing called marriage, this is the only way I would want it to be! It’s everything I ever wanted! Waking up next to you, Husband, is all I can ask for in this crazy life we are living and I’m still so grateful to call you mine.
I love you! Cheers to six years! And cheers to many, many more!
This little chunk of love!!
I’m not going to write too much because I plan to start his monthly updates (just like I did with Bennett) next week, but I just wanted to freshen up my blog with some new pictures that I took of my dark & handsome little man this morning.
^^ That stork bite on the right eyelid- I want to remember it forever if it ever fades away. My mom says I had the same exact thing when I was born and mine disappeared. ^^
^^ And of course I had to include a picture of his sweet baby toes!! I’m obsessed! ^^
Check back next week for his ONE MONTH update!
The Three Sisters
One of the “must-do’s” on my list for Canada was take a helicopter tour of the Rockies, and it did not disappoint. We got to see an up close and personal view of the Three Sisters, we landed in a valley with spectacular views of the surrounding Banff National Park, and we got to see a birds eye view of a huge glacier! This experience was amazing. Just, amazing.
As we were driving through the Bow Valley Parkway there were lots of fun places to stop and sightsee and take some selfies. Who am I kidding, the whole trip was so picturesque, I took way more pictures than I could ever put on this blog…
Another awesome thing we did was hike up to the lookout on Castle Mountain. This was probably one of the scariest days of my life as after 3 hours of hiking, we were finally making it to the clearing at the top for the incredible view, when we hear the deepest, throatiest (if that’s a word), most “don’t mess with me, I will eat you!!” growl ever!!! And…. we didn’t take bear spray like the gentleman at the hotel told us to… yes, we FaceTimed our families at the top of that mountain because we thought it was our last moments on earth. Seriously…
On a less scary note, this moment, on top of this mountain will always be one of the most memorable. It was stunningly beautiful. If you are in the Banff area, check this out, you won’t regret it.
Here’s a video of a stream of melting snow we had to cross to continue up the mountain. It was by far the toughest hike I have ever done.
Thank you, Canada, for a wonderful anniversary trip! We cannot wait to visit again soon!
Well, the first birthday came and went. It was a fun filled day of nothing but BROWN BEAR!! The pictures are pretty self explanatory, so I won’t go into details, but many thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate our little man! He had a wonderful day because of you all!
