Well, the first birthday came and went.  It was a fun filled day of nothing but BROWN BEAR!! The pictures are pretty self explanatory, so I won’t go into details, but many thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate our little man!  He had a wonderful day because of you all!

Bennett Wesley :: 1 Year Old

DSC06118Last night, as Husband & I were going through the motions of our evening bedtime routine, I was overcome with emotions.  Husband was sitting with Bennett after his bath, reading him every book in his nursery.  I was putting clothes away and straightening up his room since we are having people over.  As I was walking out, Husband told me to say goodnight to Bennett because he was going to put him to bed.  I turned around in that moment and all I wanted was for my baby to stay awake a little longer with me as I finished getting things ready for his very first birthday party EVER.  I wanted to hold on to the moment of him not quite being a whole year old yet.  Bennett came down stairs for one last snack before bed and about an hour later he was so tired, I knew it was time.  As I carried him into his nursery with his face snuggled in my neck, I felt the urge to rock him in the rocking chair for a little while.  As we rocked I tried to memorize the way his twenty pound body feels in my arms and how sweet his hair smells right after a warm bath, and how soft his baby skin still is.  I laid him down in his crib for the last time as an eleven month old, and today he is a one year old.

It’s funny that this happened because just a few hours earlier, we were at a party at a friend’s house and some of the ladies were asking me if I was feeling sad about my baby turning one, and how I felt about leaving him for the first time last week to go on our anniversary trip, and my response was “I’m fine; I was fine.”.  At that moment, I was fine. On Thursday night, Husband & I were reminiscing about how a year ago on NFL draft night, we were sitting on the couch in the living room.  The Buc’s had the number one draft pick, I was timing my contractions, and Husband basically told me that we were not leaving for the hospital until the Buc’s made their pick.  I will forever remember that draft and always think about the next morning being the morning that changed my life forever. The day my baby was born.

May 1, 2015.  Such a wonderful date to be born on.  5-1-15.

I don’t know how to express my love in words for this precious blessing any more than I have over the past year on this blog.  As I read back on his monthly entries, I feel so repetitive with my words, to the point where I can barely read them without wondering why people even follow this thing.  But you know what I remind myself?… I remind myself that the description I have of him in my heart and mind will never change.  There are only so many synonyms for the word amazing.  He is and always will be my greatest accomplishment, and I’m so happy he will always know how his presence brings so much meaning to my life.

Bennett Wesley Dietrich,

You are, literally, my heart walking around outside of my body.  I cannot imagine my world without you in it.  You bring more joy to my life than I could ever wish for and it has only been one year (and 9 full months in the womb if we are being technical) since we first met.  I hope you always keep your never ending curiosity for anything and everything around you.  I hope you stay strong willed and never conform to the norm.  I hope you travel the world and love trying new foods just as much as you have in the last year!!  I hope your life is filled with unlimited happiness.  But most of all, I hope you remember that this mama of yours, loves you beyond your comprehension.

I love you, my son.  Happy 1st Birthday!

xo Mommy

Lake Louise :: Holy moly!  This place was magical!  It was seriously a winter wonderland, something straight out of a disney movie!  Or The Revenant, which was partially filmed in the Rockies… but I will talk about that more in a future post because we actually went hiking in a spot that was in the movie.  For now though, I want to focus on the little slice of heaven from our pics above, Lake Louise.  During the winter everything is covered in beautiful white snow, but I hear (and see from the internet) that during the summer when the ice melts, this lake is the most breathtakingly beautiful blue color, and surrounded by the mountains… oh my!

Driving in on Wednesday night, you really couldn’t see a whole lot.  It was actually quite scary seeing signs warning of Elk crossing, and BEARS!!  The light from the full moon was only highlighting the tips of the mountains which surrounded us on both sides, but that was it, no other light source and really no towns or even gas stations in sight!

We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau (you can see it in the background of one of the pics above) and couldn’t have dreamed of a more wonderful hotel.  Everything was superb, absolute perfection.  I never wanted to leave!  And the view from our room… just look at the first picture on this post.

I can’t wait to show you more from the trip, but with an almost ONE year old getting into everything, it’s going to take me some time, so hang in there and I will post them as soon as I can!

Mommy & Bennett in Malibu

I’m about to post a ton of pics from our time in Malibu last weekend, so I thought I would share this sweet video of my first “walk” on the beach with my boy!

Thanks, Husband, for the cute video!

^^ Now… a little shout out to the special women in my life ^^

Baby Bennett could not have been more blessed.  These two ladies have raised the bar for Grandma’s everywhere!  Not only have they helped me pretty much every single day by holding, comforting, and loving on Bennett to give me time to shower and even take naps (!!!), they also change dirty diapers,  clean floors & bathrooms, make Husband & I wonderful meals, and are always bringing Bennett lots of gifts!  Goodness, I thought they were amazing mom’s!  They are even more amazing GRANDMA’S!  My heart loves the way they love my baby :)

I hope all the Mommy’s out there had a wonderful day!  WE deserve it! ;)

^^ Man oh man, how I love this Man!  ^^

Today marks our four year wedding anniversary, so I thought I would share a few “cutting the cake” photos with my readers.  What a special, sweet day that was…

I look back on the last four years and think to myself, wow!  Look at all that we have accomplished, all the people we have met, all the friends that we have made, all the places we have traveled, all the memories we will keep forever…  and it’s only been four years of marriage!  Of course there are lows (I would never say life is perfect), but when reflecting on our short amount of time as a married couple, I would have to say that we overcome those rough obstacles with grace.  And now, we have a little baby who will be arriving at any moment!  Expanding our family is probably the most exciting experience we will ever have and I cannot wait for this new chapter of life to start!

Husband, you make me the happiest woman in the whole world.  You work so hard and do everything possible to enhance our life together… and I just want you to know, I appreciate you in every way.  I am so proud to be your wife, the mother of your child, and your partner in life.  You are so wonderful!

I love you.  Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart!
