Adios 2017!

Dietrich

Here is our Christmas Card photo for this year!  We could not be more blessed than this beautiful life we are living with the health of our handsome boys and the love of each other along with our amazing family and awesome friends!

New Years Eve is here so it’s time for my recap!  The year started off with a BANG with the birth of our sweet *10 lb 4 oz* Remington James, we celebrated six years of marriage in April while in San Diego, Bennett Wesley turned two years old in May, spent Memorial Day in Chicago, July was busy with us in Colorado then Hawaii for my Sister Cousin’s wedding :),  September we travelled to Sullivan’s Island and Martha’s Vineyard (both of which we had never been to before), I didn’t do a post about it- but we did go to Vegas with Sister Cousin Kelly & her new hubby Randy where we got to see the fabulous Britney Spears at Planet Hollywood and laughed with Daniel Tosh.  We visited our favorite pumpkin patch, spent time with Santa, another trip to NYC (where we went ice skating in Bryant Park and got to see Hamilton on Broadway) that I didn’t document but was super fun!  Bennett rode the Polar Express and had a magical Christmas with the boys (pictures coming soon- it’s been a crazy December).  And yesterday we celebrated Remy’s first birthday party with friends and family (again… pictures coming soon ;)).

But with all the fun filled months of excitement, traveling with our kiddos, and experiencing everything through their eyes over the entire year, we close it with sorrow for the loss of my beloved grandmother.  She was such a strong woman with a lot of wisdom to share from her long life here on Earth.  I will always cherish the time I had with her and remember all the amazing conversations we once had.

Thank you, 2017, for all the memories!

Outtakes that didn’t make the blog but are still so special:

Malibu, CA :: March 2016

This little family of mine!  We had so much fun being tourists in my old stomping grounds!  We seriously did a little bit of everything that Malibu has to offer… except surf… I’ve never been a big fan of the cold Pacific water.  We did go to Pepperdine, ate at all my favorite spots, went hiking, saw some of my greatest friends, and of course did some shopping ;).  It was a blast!

There are days when I reminisce about my time in Malibu.  It was such a special time in my life.  I was finally feeling what freedom was for the first time (my parents were 2000+ miles away!!).  I was meeting people who were totally different from me and grew up in a different world than me.  It was truly one of the best experiences, and I don’t think I would be who I am today if I hadn’t have been brave enough to leave the comfort of my home in Texas and go to college in California.  I never wanted to conform to the norm and get too comfortable knowing that my parents could just rescue me at the drop of a hat.

Someday, Bennett will be at the age where he is figuring out where he wants to go to college and as much as I selfishly will want him to be close to home, I hope that I am brave enough at that time to let him choose his own path and encourage him to fulfill his dreams.

Anyway, once again, Husband & I had a great time with our little buddy.  It’s crazy that his first college visit was to my school across the country when daddy’s school is only a 2 hour drive from our house in Florida :).

 I just know he is going to be a wave!!! ;) Enjoy the pics!

Another amazing shower for Baby D!  My sweet, sweet friend Kelly T. hosted and it was a wonderful success!  She had cute little blue mason jars with pink & white striped straws for beverages, twine & wooden clothespins for pictures of Husband & I when we were babies, and little cards for all the guests to write wishes for Baby D on!  We had so much fun with the ribbon game, where everyone guesses the size of the belly with ribbon and compares it to mine and my cousin Kelly H. (from Chicago) flew down for the occasion and brought a word scramble game that was super entertaining as well (even had to do a run-off since 2 people tied)!  I am beyond appreciative of all the love, support, and gifts for this little baby of mine.  I cannot thank everyone enough!

Just a few short weeks left before we all get to meet this sweet baby!
